The Complete Backyard Wedding Rental Checklist

A backyard wedding can be personal, relaxed and beautiful. But unlike a venue, your yard does not come with furniture. Use this checklist to make sure nothing gets missed.

For the ceremony

• White resin chairs, one per guest
• A wood arch or backdrop stand
• A small table for the guest book or unity ceremony
• A speaker so everyone can hear your vows

For the reception

• 60-inch round tables or long 8 ft tables
• Tablecloths, runners and napkins
• Wine glasses, champagne flutes and beverage glasses
• A dance floor, with a subfloor for outdoor sites

For comfort

• A tent or patio umbrellas for shade
• Evaporative coolers or patio heaters, depending on the season

For food and drinks

• Chafing dishes if you are serving a buffet
• Extra tables for food, cake and gifts
• Rolling coolers or a patio beverage cart

The things people forget

• Extension cords for music, coolers and lights
• Trash cans that guests can actually find
• A marquee sign to welcome guests and point the way
• Parking and restroom plans for your guests
